The Elenia Group consists of the electricity distribution company Elenia Oy as the parent company and its wholly-owned subsidiaries Elenia Lämpö Oy, Elenia Palvelut Oy and Elenia Finance Oyj. Elenia Oy is the second largest distribution system operator in Finland with 420 000 customers and 68 900 km of distribution network. Elenia ensures a smart and weatherproof network for their customers. Elenia’s vision is to be service and weatherproof network forerunner in the electricity distribution business.
ROLE IN THE PROJECT
Elenia aims to demonstrate capabilities to make available and utilize flexible resources on the distribution grid and to demonstrate processes that allow for procurement of flexibility from various resources to cover needs for flexibility in network management. Elenia enables flexible resources to be connected to the grid, to have control capabilities and to have neutral access to all available market mechanisms. Elenia acts as a neutral grid party in enabling its customers to exchange energies over multiple market mechanisms locally, on the grid level and across grids in providing capabilities for system balancing. Elenia works in close collaboration with Empower IM in building the demonstrator and Fingrid in enabling system wide flexibility utilization.
